Witty Machines - Full Time - In-person - Zürich, Switzerland
At Witty Machines, we are building the smartest machines for small and medium sized businesses in the food industry. We are looking for an early employee to help us speed up our development.
As a Robotic Software Engineer, you'll build the software that makes our machines see, think, and move reliably on real production lines. You'll work across computer vision, robot control, and the user interface, taking modules from prototype to robust enough to run unattended in a customer's factory, day in, day out.
This is a hands on role. You will design new capabilities from scratch and keep improving what's already running in the field. You'll occasionally be on site deploying updates and, from time to time, talking directly with customers about how the system performs.
What you’ll be responsible for
- Develop new modules in computer vision, robot control, or the GUI (user interface), combining state of the art AI models with classical methods
- Improve and maintain existing modules, fixing issues and increasing performance and reliability
- Deploy updates in the field, sometimes on site at customer locations
- Ensure code is robust, clean, and maintainable, ready to run unattended on production machines
- Occasionally talk to existing or prospective customers to understand their needs and how the system is performing
- Help debug and calibrate systems directly on physical hardware
What we are looking for
- Degree in a robotics related field (robotics, mechanical, electrical, computer science, or similar)
- Experience with Python and C++ and with training machine learning models
- Familiarity with ROS2
- Experience working on real robots, not just simulation
- Comfort working with hardware: sensors, cameras, actuators, and the quirks that come with real-world deployment
- A pragmatic, get-it-working mindset, balancing state of the art techniques with robust, production-ready engineering
- Willingness to travel to customer sites
- German or French is a plus, given occasional customer contact
Why join
- Good opportunity to join an early stage company with a clear target market and some traction
- Good salary with a fair equity stake
- You get to work in a strong team, tackling important problems
- Opportunity to have a front row seat in a very hot and fast developing field (robotics, AI)
- Chance to make a substantial impact on the company's growth and success
- A clear path to grow with the company and move into a leadership role, as the company grows
If this sounds exciting, we’d love to hear from you.
Compensation
90-120k CHF per year and 0.1-0.75% equity.
